Our Story

Marvel’s Portable Welding was founded in 1976 by Kenny Marvel. Kenny had been working for a local firm but all his work involved traveling several hours from home each day. One day, having grown weary of the long commutes came home and announced to his wife, Linda that he had quit his job and was going to go into business for himself welding and fabricating metal in his garage. Kenny and Linda had 3 young children at the time and Kenny had no work lined up. That was the beginning of Marvel’s Portable Welding.

A little over four decades of long hours, determination and perseverance, Marvel’s Welding has grown ten-fold with the convenience of portable welding trucks, multiple fabrication tools, numerous additions to the shop, the addition of heavy equipment, trucks and trailer repairs, blasting and priming, and the capacity to make hydraulics and other hoses.

As the years quickly passed by, and the business continued to grow, their son, Chad, began taking on more responsibilities, leading jobs, supervising in the shop, learning all parts of the business and looking for ways to expand the business.  Then, in 2017, Chad became owner/president of the family business.

He has stepped up into this role, taking on full responsibility of Marvel’s Portable Welding and continues to look for ways to improve upon and expand the services that are offered. Chad can be found working alongside his employees, meeting with customers, estimating jobs, and making sure jobs are done correctly and in a timely manner. Chad and his wife Tracy live in Millsboro, they have two children and a daughter-in-law. Chad enjoys fishing, attending stock car races, and spending time with his family.
